Oar-Gee Lures has been manufacturing fishing lures for 25 years. We started out developing freshwater lures for Murray Cod and other natives, but have since progressed to saltwater lures and sell to over 400 tackle retail outlets across Australia.

Why did you decide to build a new website?

We were getting requests to publish all our colours and models online so retailers could go somewhere direct to see what they wanted. We used to print hard copy colour charts for retailers, but it changed almost every day so they were out of date very quickly. They were also very expensive to produce – even to get a brochure produced about Oar-Gee lures, with the same information that’s contained in the website, would have cost three times as much as the Web123 website.
 

What made you choose Web123?

I trusted the people behind the business and felt fully supported. I got another couple of quotes but they were much more expensive - $10,000 for the same thing that Web123 charged less than $2,000 for.

Also, what really appealed about Web123 was that I would be in complete control and able to make sure our website is constantly evolving.

The truth now…was it hard to build your own website?

I am (or was) completely computer illiterate and there is no one here in the business to teach me. I taught myself to email and browse the web and now I’ve taught myself to build a Web123 website, a fact of which I’m pretty proud of.

It took me only four days from when I started, to going live. Web123 helped guide me with template selection, and their support team – who were absolutely fantastic – spent quite a bit of time on the phone to me. They spoke my language and were able to talk me through every roadblock. It’s been ages since I’ve had to ring them now. What’s also impressive is that because I took the time to do it all myself, I can now confidently jump online and know I can do all the basics in a flash.

One was a new customer who looked at the website and ordered two of everything to stock his newly opened tackle shop. The other was an existing distributor who hadn’t appreciated just how comprehensive our full product range was.

Since then word has spread about the website, thanks to us letting people know and customers talking to one another, and now that retailers and distributors can see every product in every colour in one place, we’ve had bigger orders from existing customers as well as new orders from completely new ones.
